About me
Phorl is the creative alias of Lyndon Forster. His music and art explores genres such as ambient, post-rock, and IDM, blending atmospheric soundscapes with a meditative pulse. Phorl is a bridge between these sound worlds and his visual art, creating an artistic identity reflecting a reverence for nature, sound, and the imagination. Guided by philosophies such as biocentric anarchy, Phorl invites audiences to contemplate the vastness and mystery of ecological systems, urging a recognition that humanity’s understanding of the planet remains profoundly incomplete.
The Sanctuary
This video was a spur of the moment recording at the end of a wedding fair that attended in The Sanctuary at Lupton House of something that I'd been playing around with during the day. I liked it so I decided to us the handpan audio as the basis for a track on my EP 'The Longer Now' and have overlayed it over the original video. There is a much higher quality video of this available on my Youtube channel.
Prelude/Thriving
This is the introduction and 1st track off of my album 'The Longer Now' which was released in June 2024. It began as a reworking of one of my old pieces called 'Longmarsh'. I had been asked by the incredible tabla maestro, Pandit Sanju Sahai to perform with him and an ensemble of other wonderful musicians at the opening concert of the Thrive Festival 2023 in the Great Hall at Dartington, an absolute honour, and an experience that I will never ever forget. Sanju Ji asked me to bring one of my pieces, which is how 'Thriving' came about. It became the opening piece for the concert that we played together. This is my solo reworking of this piece.
