Young Drummer of the Year - Ebenezer Sendey
Ebenezer Sendey's winning performance at the Final of the Young Drummer of the Year Event held in the UK. All entrants must be under 16 and send in a video of themselves playing. A shortlist of 40 is decided, then the top 10 are chosen to come and play in front of a panel of professional players and music industry heavyweights. Not only do they perform a solo, an accompaniment to some prerecorded music, and a 'live' piece with 2 other musicians (a piece of music that they only heard the morning of the event); but they are also have an informal chat with the judges about music and themselves. Cairde is a group of male Irish dancers who have recently become known for their tiktok videos where they actively post their modern version of Irish dancing to trending music. The group of 7 began posting their content on TikTok during the pandemic in August 2020 and their account has grown to 2.3 million followers with 32.1 million likes. Since this time, Cairde have performed on multiple TV shows including The Late Late Show, Good Morning America and the UK’s This Morning as well as being projected on the big screens in Times Square in New York! The team have recently started their own tutorial series called ‘How To Irish Dance’ on YouTube where they teach you the foundations of the style, break down the basics and help you to grow as an Irish dancer.
